Project Overview

SmartDebit is a leading payment processing provider for direct debit transactions with over 2 million monthly payments and an annual transaction volume of over £2bn. One of their available services is an API for customers to integrate direct debit functionality into their own applications.

The original legacy API was built in an early version of Ruby on Rails and needed a complete overhaul to comply with the latest Rails version. We updated the existing functionality, added a unit test framework and developed additional features to improve performance and usability.
